How I Treat My Skin When I’m PMS’ing

I truly believe Mother Nature has a personal vendetta against me. Like… what did I do to her? Because every month, without fail, she rolls up like, “Hey girl, miss me?” and brings a full-on skin rebellion as her plus-one.
Hormonal acne? Yeah, that’s my monthly subscription. Zero chance of canceling. It’s clockwork—always on the lower cheeks and chin, just like the dermatology textbooks say. Cute, right? Nope. But over the years, I’ve figured out how to fight back. When my skin is PMS’ing harder than I am, I reach for three ride-or-die products that bring it back from the brink.
🪴 CICA—My Calm in the Storm
Cica, aka Centella Asiatica, is the skin-soothing queen you didn’t know you needed. She’s got roots in traditional Asian medicine and is basically the peacekeeper your angry, inflamed face has been praying for.
When my skin’s throwing a tantrum, I switch to the KrX Cica Recovery Bundle like I’m calling in the skincare Avengers. Cleanser, toner, serum, and moisturizer—all gentle, calming, and drama-free. I also toss in KrX Cica Sheet Masks twice that week (spaced out, not stacked—we’re healing, not suffocating). They take down the inflammation like a champ. Angry skin? Diffused. Crisis? Averted.
🍄 Beta Glucan—Sounds Weird, Works Wonders
Now before you ask, “What in the mushroom is Beta Glucan?”—just know this: it's your skin’s undercover bestie. This powerhouse is a natural, soluble fiber found in shiitake mushrooms (yes, really) and does the absolute most.
Beta Glucan boosts skin cell turnover, encourages collagen and elastin production, calms irritation, hydrates like a dream, and even helps prevent infections. Basically, it’s giving skincare overachiever.
I use the Neogenesis Beta-Glucan Serum—Korean-formulated magic that I nano into my skin at night like I’m giving it a secret weapon. Because I am.
💛 FaceTime—My OG
Ah,
. The one that’s been with me since the early days of Mo’ Scrubs. She’s loyal. She’s effective. She smells amazing. And she exfoliates like a dream without being rude to your skin.
Formulated with a custom essential oil blend that targets inflammation and breakouts, and blended into organic cold-pressed coconut oil, this scrub has stood the test of time. It’s my go-to not just for my face, but... ahem... other areas that need love. But listen—that’s a conversation for another blog post, and I promise you, it’s going to be a good one.
Between these three MVPs, I can face PMS week without hiding under foundation (or my comforter). Honestly, I’ve paid enough dues in life to not have hormonal acne at this big age, but here we are. At least I’m prepared—with my skincare arsenal locked, loaded, and glowing.
Now spill—how do you treat your skin when it’s acting up? Are you fighting Mother Nature like me, or are y’all still on speaking terms?
